On the Research and Work Cited
This book is packed with statistics from scientific studies, and other forms of research. Some of this information comes from reliable sources, such as universities and other high profile institutions. Other pieces of data come from less reliable sources.
The later were included to fill in the gaps of missing information. In some cases, I couldn’t find sources to back up the claims I was learning, or forgot to add them to the book. This process has taken over three years, and I can’t say I did the best possible job at keeping perfect records of all the information I was gathering.
On top of that, there is much in this book that has not yet been explored by accredited organizations. It’s a pity that there isn’t more scientific data on some of these topics. My hope is that this book will show how important it is for us to continue to explore these areas, so we can gather more reliable information on these important issues.
The less reliable sources used in this book refer back to Wikipedia, and independent blogs without references. I did my best to minimize using these sources. My decision to include them was based on two key reasons. First, I didn’t want to spend decades of my life dedicating myself to doing research for this book. I leave that to scientists and researchers who are passionate about finding all those details. Second, I know that no matter what figures I include, or who I quote, some of you will trust them, and others won’t. It doesn’t matter if I am quoting the U.S. government, an Ivy League research institution, or some random health blog.
Please keep in mind that many of the concepts in the following chapters are not backed up by modern science. These are my personal interpretations, assumptions, and theories, based on what I’ve learned from teachers, and personal experimentation.
I trust that you are smart enough to do your own research. If any of the data presented in this book doesn’t make sense to you, my advice is to keep researching, and find the truth you want to believe in.
