Juice Fasting
Congratulations on making it this far. You have learned the basic steps, to follow a fruit based diet, and become a true fruitarian.
Before we move on to sharing more about fruit, let’s touch on a few extra things we can do, to clean up our diet, and improve our health. These include juice fasting, water fasting, and dry fasting. We will also spend a chapter exploring the concepts of “Breatharianism”, “Lovearianism” and “Beingism”.
Juice fasting allows our bodies to spend less energy on digestion, by eliminating the need to break down fiber and other substances. The juice we ingest during our fasts moves through the digestive track with ease, keeping digestive activity to a minimum.
Juice fasts, and other fasts, are usually recommended for specific reasons, and for specific periods of time. Some people like fasting on vegetable juice, but this is often less effective or enjoyable than a fruit juice fast. Like we said before, vegetables tend to have fewer calories than fruit, making them a less efficient option to keep us going through the day.
Orange juice, grape juice, and watermelon juice are often recommended by most raw foodists. We can experiment with other fruits such as apples and grapefruit. We can also go on a hybrid juice fast, where we mix different fruits, or different vegetables, or different vegetables with fruits. Some people believe “simplicity is divinity”, and try to minimize the number of foods they mix in every meal. I encourage you to try different approaches and find what works best for you.
Many people have experience amazing results by following a juice fast. The fast can last from a single day to several months, depending on each person. If we plan on doing a long fast, it is recommended to do extensive research on what to expect. The most important thing to know before starting a fast is how to break it. Some people get very ill from breaking a fast without taking the appropriate precautions.
It’s also important to remember that detoxification symptoms are likely to show up during a fast. We want to be physically, emotionally, and mentally ready to endure symptoms. It’s recommended to move slowly through this process, and avoid rushing anything.
