Fruit and Jesus
“The Essene Gospel of Peace” was authored by Edmond Bordeaux Szekely, and the first edition was published on 1978. According to Szekely, his book was a direct translation from texts he found at the Vatican Archives in 1923. (1)
Szekely was a raw foodist advocate. His diet consisted of whole grains, nuts, seeds, and a large quantity of raw fruits and vegetables. He recommended a raw food diet, hydrotherapy, breathing clean air, and bathing in sunshine, as cornerstones of good health.
In “The Essene Gospel of Peace”, Szekely recounts sermons by Jesus Christ, in which the later advices his followers to “Renew yourselves and fast”. According to the Gospel “While you fast and pray, the angels of God protect your body… fasting is always pleasing in the eyes of God”.
The Gospel encourages Jesus’ followers to remember the words of God, when It said “Behold, I have given you every seed bearing herb…and every tree, in which there is fruit, to you it shall be for meat… And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air… I give every green herb for meat,… but flesh… you shall not eat.”
In summary, the Gospel advices to “Eat always from the table of God: the fruits of the trees, the grain, and grasses of the field, the milk of beasts, and the honey of bees. For everything beyond these is of Satan, and leads by the way of sins and diseases, unto death. But the foods which you eat from the abundant table of God give strength and youth to your body, and you will never see diseases.” (2)
Of course, both the Vatican, and the National Library of Vienna, denied that the original manuscripts ever existed. Many scholars consider the text a forgery, however, there is no proof to support either theory.
