Can Fruit Make Me Too Skinny?
On the opposite side of the spectrum we have people who believe fruit-based diets will make us extremely skinny. These are often the same people who keep arguing that vegans can’t grow muscle. Please go on Google and type: “vegan athlete”.
We know people following a fruit-based diet who could be considered skinny. Mango Wodzak and Anne Osborne are some good examples. We could say that they are too skinny and unhealthy but that is certainly up to debate. According to Mango, human beings are meant to be fairly skinny. He also lives a tranquil life and has never been interested in building muscle mass. He seems to be in good health for a 60 year old.
I believe that any healthy human who gets enough energy from a fruit-based diet will maintain healthy weight. In fact, there are fruitarian athletes like Douglas Graham, Michael Arnstein, and Mike Vlasaty who have thrived on a fruit-based diet and are far from skinny.
It was this debate about fruit and muscle gain that inspired me to start the Fruitarian Bodybuilder project. My goal is to build an impressive physique on a fruit-based diet. This achievement would be the ultimate proof, to show it is possible to build muscle with a diet high on fruit and low on protein foods. It would also validate many arguments in favor of fruit diets.
At the same time, my progress as a fruitarian bodybuilder only talks about my experience, and my personal journey. Other people, such as Michael Arnstein, have had a stronger commitment to eating more fruit, for longer periods of times, while training way more than me. If you want proof and inspiration I recommend you look into their results.
