Better Health, Better People
By following a fruit-based diet we benefit ourselves, animals, plants, and other humans as well. This happens in two different ways. One way is by following a healthy diet that keeps us in a better mood, more present, and open to the world around us. The other way is by eliminating jobs in the animal product industry. These businesses are notorious for their horrible work conditions. Some slaughterhouses are so horrendous that their employees develop severe cases of PTSD from working there. (1) (2)
It is risky to say that a diet is better than another. Most people are deeply attached to their eating habits. Taking these away, or insulting them, is like insulting their religion and family. We can’t say people following a fruit based diet are superior to those who don’t. At the same time, we must not ignore the fact that some diets are much better than others. It is absurd to pretend that the Standard American Diet is as good as a whole foods diet, just like its foolish to ignore how plant based diets are preeminent to omnivorous diets.
Better diets lead to better health. This translates to more awareness, more presence, more beauty, and more productivity. Of course there are plenty of vegans who are douche-bags, and plenty of omnivores who are wonderful human beings. Diets don’t define people, but they do have an effect on us. This is the same for people who drink, smoke, or do drugs. Some drug addicts are wonderful husbands, wives, parents, and coworkers. Other people, who never drink or smoke, are deplorable.
Better diets make better people. Fruit based diets help by bringing awareness to how we treat others, inspiring a clean environment that is alive, bright and colorful. In the contrary, animal products support slavery and death. When we switch to a fruit based diet, we stop feeding the animal industry monster, diminishing the amounts of resources available to continue its horrendous activities.
To be clear, I am not saying that people who enjoy good health are better than those who are ill. What I am saying is that when we feel healthy are better than when we sick better. More importantly, the better we feel, the better we can serve others.
