Accepting Multiple Perspectives
Throughout this book, I have been encouraging you to Give Fruit a Chance. That’s because I honestly think, and feel, that there is something very special about eating fruit. My intuition keeps telling me to dive deeper into it.
If that resonates with you, you might be wondering the following question. If fruit based diets are likely to be the most natural, healthy, ethical, sustainable, and environmentally friendly diet humans can have. Why would we eat anything else?
The first reasons that come to mind are uncertainty and humility. We need a minimum amount of humility to admit that our understanding of raw vegan and fruit based diets could be wrong. It may be possible, considering the lack of scientific research in this area, that humans do in fact need animal products to thrive. We need to accept this uncertainty and let it be part of our transition, adaptation, and evolutionary process.
We also need to accept that, nature, health, sustainability, ethics, and environmental protection, are just a few of countless human needs. The importance of these needs will vary according to each person. It could be a mistake for us to claim health is the number one need for humans, or that ethics should be everyone’s priority.
Different people, value different needs, in different ways, at different times. We all need to be respected for our perception of the world, our views, and our actions. We don’t have to agree with the act of killing another being for food, when we believe this is unnecessary. However, we must respect the person for who they are, and the world they live in. Forcing our views about ethical behavior, environmentalism, and health, on others, is just another way of creating conflict.
Absolute fruitarianism may be the path to paradise. One we are all destined to reach, in this lifetime or the next. If this is true, its fair to allow each soul to reach that point, at their own pace, and in their own time. If we are all on our way to evolving, transcending, and manifesting heaven on earth, then it is fair to let each individual go through their personal transformation, with autonomy and freedom.
We can accept the cultures of other people, and the personal journey each one of us is traveling. Its completely fair to share ideas, like we do in this book, but that is different from attaching animal farms, or harassing people, in favor of animal rights. We are not saying riots and protests are wrong; they do serve to educate the public. At the same time, there are more peaceful approaches available to lead positive change.
The best thing we can do is lead by the example. If you believe veganism and fruitarianism are a viable option, the best thing you can do is stick to your beliefs, and become a living example.
Show the world how you benefit from following a vegan, raw vegan or fruit based diet. Let others see how they can benefit too. Start a blog, make a video, write a book. All these avenues have the potential for positive long-term effects.
