Saving Money with Healthier Options
Adopting raw vegan and fruit based diets are likely to lead to better health, and less doctor visits. More importantly, healthier diets may prevent major illnesses and disease that lead to to surgery and expensive treatments.
Think about some of the most common causes of death in the United States, and the cost of the treatments used to prevent them. Heart disease, ranking at the top of the list, amounts for a national loss of more than $320 billion in annual healthcare costs and productivity loss. According to the CDC Foundation, “by 2030, annual direct medical costs associated with cardiovascular diseases are projected to rise to more than $818 billion, while productivity loss costs could exceed $275 billion.” (1)
Looking at individual costs per person we learn that newly approved cancer drugs cost an average of $10,000 per month, with some exceeding $30,000 per month. Drugs aren’t the only expense. Patients also pay for drugs that relieve the side effects of chemotherapy, plus service and facility fees. Not to mention the lost income due to missed work. (2)
