Knowing Right From Wrong
In the heart of God everything is one and the same. From that perspective there is no up or down, no right or wrong. There is no division, everything is a singular whole. Some view this as an excuse to abuse others. Some Native American traditions, for example, view this unity as an excuse to justify killing animals.
These groups know the corpses they eat become part of their own body, which in time dies, and returns to the earth becoming food for future animals. They may refer to this as the circle of life, some see it as a circle of death. Many Native Americans see no wrong in taking the lives of innocent animals, but they clearly see the injustices they suffer at the hands of the white man. They have no problem exploiting horses for their own benefit, but are quick to protest when oil companies take their land and jeopardize their resources in search for profits.
It may be true that from a spiritual perspective there is no wrong doing. Perhaps it is all a cosmic game that God is playing with herself. But humans live in a different plane, the plane of form, the plane of opposites. We recognize day and night, as much as we perceive right from wrong. Yes, we can have spiritual experiences and understand we are all one. We can train our bodies to feel no pain or pleasure, to sense no thoughts at all. This doesn’t take away the fact that the day is bright and the night is dark. Killing is a sin, and loving is a blessing.
Bad behaviors will always be bad behaviors. That is why they are called bad. Murder will always be dreadful, no matter how it is performed, or for what reason. Any excuse we attach to our behavior is simply that, an excuse. Anger is a negative emotion, kindness is a positive emotion. We can use anger to defend ourselves, that may be acceptable in the heart of God, but murder is likely to get you in trouble. We cannot escape the laws of Karma, the laws of cause and effect. Try eating McDonalds for two months and you will suffer the consequences. Switch your diet to a fruit based diet, and you will experience truth.
