Fruit Benefits our Eyes
Fruits are loaded with vitamins and minerals required for good health. Oranges, grapefruits, lemons, and berries, are some of the best food options available for eye health. They are high in vitamin C, which may reduce the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration. They also contain carotenoids, the compounds that give fruit their yellow, orange, and red pigments. These are thought to help decrease the risk of many eye diseases.
Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fruits such as grapes, strawberries, and guava, reduce the risk of macular degeneration, and help with vision development in infants. Beta carotene and vitamin A protect the eyes against dryness, night blindness, and strengthens retina.
